Carlos Vilán and Liubov Khelben
CARLOS VILÁN originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, started studying Spanish Dance with Fontanes, Patinño, Vera, Nouché and had a diploma with Angel Pericet, master of masters of the spanish dance.
Vilán has been dancing with Antonio Gades Company for the movie “El Amor Brujo” from Carlos Saura in 1986; in 1988 he was nominated lead dancer from the Maria Rosa company under the direction from Antonio, and also has been lead dancer for the companies of Merche Esmeralda, Rafael Aguilar and Carmen Cortés.
He was invited as an international dancer to the Dance Stars Gala with Maya Plisetskaya, Silvie Guillem, Lola Greco, Aida Gómez and Antonio Canales, among others, dancing always choreographies from the master Antonio. He was the director of the Ballet of Teatro Avenida of Buenos Aires. He has created lots of choreographies for TV programs, Operas and spanish Zarzuelas.
For the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, he has choreographed, La verbena de la Paloma, El Bateo, La Corte del Faraon, La Gran Via, El Rey de Harlem y El Chaleco Blanco among others.
As an scene director and choreographer he presented Carmen, La Traviata, Marina, La Leyenda del Beso and La Gran Via, with the biggest stars of the lyric singers world national and international. He has been working under the direction of Emilio Sagi, Adolfo Marsillach, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón. Alfredo Arias, Nuria Espert, Juanjo Granda, Giancarlo de Mónaco, Gerardo Vera and Carlos Saura with who he performed in the movie “Sevillanas” with Merche Esmeralda in 1991.
Carlos Vilán life has been going through a lot of diferent styles of shows, and maybe in this he finds his passion, he tries to escape from the repetition to grow up as an artist. He has been choreographing from the most popular styles for stars of the “Copla” like Rocio Jurado or Isabel Pantoja to the most expresionist and vanguardist styles. He controls all diferent styles of dance which allows him to have his own ballet an bring it to the highest quality.
Carlos Vilán together with the Son Amar Dancers has created one of the most beautiful spanish ballet choreographies including Classical Spanish and Flamenco.
LIUBOV KHELBEN is a classically trained dancer and choreographer from Spain. She joined Son Amar as a dancer and choreographer bringing jazz, lyrical, funk, hip-hop, modern and folk dance styles to the stage. She is a principal dancer and choreographer for Son Amar and has trained and performed in Russia, China, Egypt, Turkey, and Spain. She studied at the Pavlovo Dance School in Russia and with a professor of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Liubov (pronounced Luba) earned a degree in choreography of classical, modern and folk dance from the University of Fine Arts in Samara, Russia. One of her specialties is creating a memorable show experience through the fusion of Jazz and Flamenco.
